Community Guidelines

Last Updated: December 23, 2025

Welcome to Narrato! We are building something different here: a digital playground that focuses on Creativity, Connection, and Safety.

Unlike the "wild west" of the open internet, Narrato is a protected space designed specifically for young explorers. To keep it that way, we have a clear set of rules. These aren't just suggestions; they are the mandatory requirements for being part of our community.

We enforce these rules using a mix of Lily (our AI Guardian) and human safety teams. We believe in transparency, so this document explains exactly what is allowed, what isn't, and why.

1. The Core Principle: Safety First

Our number one priority is protecting the children who use this platform. If there is ever a conflict between "free speech" and "child safety," safety wins every time.

Zero Tolerance (The "Instant Ban" List)

We do not give warnings for the following. Violating these rules results in immediate content removal and likely permanent account termination.

Sexual
Absolutely no nudity, pornography, or sexual language. This includes "simulated" sexual acts in roleplay text, suggestive poses, or linking to adult content.
Hate
We do not tolerate attacks based on race, religion, gender, disability, ethnicity, or orientation. Using slurs or symbols of hate groups is grounds for an immediate ban.
Illegal
No promotion or depiction of drugs, alcohol, vaping, weapons manufacturing, or hacking.
Predatory
Any person (regardless of age) attempting to infiltrate the platform to groom, exploit, or solicit content from a child will be reported to law enforcement immediately.

2. Violence & Context: What is Okay?

We know that stories often have conflict. Superheroes fight villains, and knights fight dragons. However, there is a hard line between Fantasy/Storytelling and Disturbing Violence.

The Rule: No Realistic Violence or Gore

You may not share drawings, stories, or messages that depict realistic harm to people or animals.

Context Matters (Examples)

What is Allowed (Safe)
  • Combat Two knights having a sword fight in a story. A superhero blasting a robot with a laser.
  • Schools A story about a magical school or a difficult test.
  • Weapons Fantasy weapons (magic wands, lightsabers, cartoon mallets).
  • Horror Spooky ghosts, friendly monsters, or "Goosebumps" style scares.
What is Banned (Unsafe)
  • Combat Descriptions of blood, gore, or suffering. Realistic depictions of modern warfare or terrorism.
  • Schools Strictly Prohibited: Any mention, drawing, or story about school shootings, bomb threats, or violence against classmates.
  • Weapons Realistic firearms, knives used to harm, or explosives.
  • Horror Jeff the Killer, Slenderman, gore, torture, or imagery designed to traumatize young children.

Lily's Note

If you are unsure if your story is too scary or violent, ask yourself: "Would a teacher let me read this to the 1st Grade class?" If the answer is no, it doesn't belong on Narrato.

3. Language & Conduct

Clean Language Only (No Swearing)

Narrato is a PG-rated space.

  • No Cursing: Do not use swear words, even if you are "just joking."
  • No Filters Evasion: Using symbols (like $#*!) or misspellings to get around the filter is still considered swearing.

Why? We have users as young as 7 years old. Language that might be normal in a high school locker room is not appropriate here.

Bullying & Drama

  • Be Kind: It sounds simple, but it's important. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
  • No Gang-Ups: Encouraging others to target or mass-report a specific user is considered harassment.
  • The "Soft Block": If you don't get along with someone, just unfriend or block them. Do not start a public fight or make posts "calling them out."

4. Privacy & "Stranger Danger"

One of the biggest risks online is sharing too much information. We designed Narrato to minimize this risk, but we need you to follow the rules to stay safe.

No Personal Info (PII)

You may not share personally identifiable information in public feeds, comments, or private chats. This includes:

  • Real Full Names: First name is okay (e.g., "Alex"), but never full names.
  • Phone Numbers: Never share your number.
  • Location: Home addresses, specific school names, or real-time locations.
  • Email Addresses: Keep your email private.
  • Visual Privacy: Do not post photos that show your house number, street signs, or school logo.

Stay on Narrato (Anti-Grooming)

This is a critical rule. You are prohibited from asking other users to move the conversation to another app.

Do not ask: "Do you have Discord?", "Add me on Snap," "What's your WhatsApp?", or "Follow my Insta."

Why? Once a conversation moves to an unmonitored app, we can no longer protect you. Predators often try to move children to encrypted apps quickly to hide their behavior. We treat these requests as a major safety flag.

Identity

  • Be Yourself: Don't pretend to be a teacher, a Narrato staff member, or a celebrity.
  • One Person, One Account: Don't share your password with friends. You are responsible for everything that happens on your account.

5. Creativity & Integrity

Narrato is a place to create, not to copy.

Art Theft & Originality

  • Create, Don't Copy: Please only upload art and stories that you created.
  • No Tracing/Stealing: Taking an image from Google, Pinterest, or another artist and claiming it is yours is not allowed.

Why? We want to see your messy, imperfect, wonderful drawings, not someone else's polished work. Being an artist is about your own expression.

Cheating

Earn Your Stardust: Using bots, scripts, or automated clickers to farm "Stardust" currency is cheating. It ruins the economy for everyone else who is earning it fairly by reading and writing.

6. How We Enforce the Rules

We understand that kids make mistakes. Our enforcement system is designed to be educational first, but firm when necessary.

1

Strike 1 (The Nudge)

What happens: The content is removed. Lily sends a private message explaining why it was removed (e.g., "That word isn't allowed here.").

Goal: Education. We assume you didn't know or made a mistake.

2

Strike 2 (The Time-Out)

What happens: The account is suspended for 24 hours. The user cannot post, chat, or earn Stardust.

Requirement: To unlock the account, the user must complete a "Reflection Quest" (a short interactive quiz about the rules they broke).

3

Strike 3 (The Parent Lock)

What happens: The account is frozen indefinitely.

Requirement: The Parent/Guardian must log in to the Parent Dashboard, review the incident report, and manually re-enable the account. This ensures parents are aware of the behavior and can talk to their child about it.

4

Strike 4 (Termination)

What happens: Permanent ban.

We do not take this lightly, but we cannot allow repeat offenders to endanger the community or disrupt the experience for others.

Appeals

If you believe a decision was made in error (e.g., Lily misunderstood a joke or a drawing), Parents can file an appeal.

Whoa there, Time Traveler!

It can't be that you want to appeal now... we aren't even running yet! Come back when we launch (but hopefully you won't need to appeal anything!).
